Law Training Contracts (Part-time)
The part-time study law
training contract normally lasts between three and four years. The trainee works
full-time and, at the same time, is studying either the last two years of a part-time
qualifying law degree or the part-time CPE/GDL; and/or the part-time LPC.The time
spent in a part-time study training contract counts at half-time, i.e. two years
counts as one year of the total training period.
The options for part-time
study law training contracts are as follows: the final two years of a part-time
qualifying law degree followed by a two-year part-time LPC or a two-year part-time
CPE/GDL followed by a two year part-time LPC, or a two-year part-time LPC followed
by one year in a full time la w training contract
A trainee may commence
a part-time study training contract part way through a course (in which case their
employer would need to calculate what proportion of their training counts at half-time
and how much additional training post-LPC needs to be undertaken). It is also possible
to undertake a part-time study training contract during the LPC followed by a part-time
training contract. Further Information
